Usagi Buzinkai, composer of Homestuck’s “Doctor” as well as many other popular tracks that helped shape so many young people’s lives passed away several days ago.
Usagi was an asexual trans woman in the process of coming out before she died and we cannot let her passing erase her identity.
PLEASE STOP SPREADING POSTS MISGENDERING A DECEASED TRANS ARTIST
there’s a website where you put in two musicians/artists and it makes a playlist that slowly transitions from one musician’s style of music to the other’s
I was in the airport in Rome and there was this piano in the terminal that had a sign that said “Play Me.” We’re sitting at the cafe close by and everyone’s generally ignoring the piano and just walking past (like they should in a gd airport) but then out of nowhere I hear the freaking Waterfall music rising over the din and I swear it was like my soul melted from my body. Those songs which I’d listened to obsessively and belonged to an Incredibly Nerdy part of me that I generally keep private were suddenly in The Most Public Space and In A Foreign Country no less.
I lean over and see this Nerdy Teen at the piano bench and I feel simultaneously embarrassed and proud and also all the emotions tied to the music itself which is A Lot to be feeling that early in the morning in an airport.
Anyway it was a reminder how this weird little game lives on even in the places I very least expect it and I’m glad that the sheet music is out there to hopefully be played on more dumb airport pianos.
