URGENT posted 11 September by Seattle GDC

[URGENT – Phone Zap] South Carolina prison officials are REFUSING to evacuate prisoners who are in a mandatory evacuation zone with Hurricane Florence set to make landfall as a category 4. This is a critical moment and it will take all of us making time to try and hold the officials responsible for these decisions responsible. Please see the link below for a script and numbers to call for officials in the hurricane’s projected impact zone (Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina).

Despite a mandatory evacuation order, prisoners in South Carolina are left to the potential floodwaters. Mutual Aid Disaster Relief has been on the phone with many jails and prisons along Hurricane Florence’s projected path. Some prison officials admit they haven’t created a plan yet.

This is fucking nuts.

The storm will be here in like, less than two days and we don’t even have plans for the prisoners? This is outrageous. Jesus.

There is a plan for the prisoners. It’s “let them die”.

When katrina came through new orleans, they let the prisoners drown.

I love all the prison guards in the notes who think anyone gives a fuck what they think.
