Today I tried to channel the spirit of Mollymauk and “leave the con better than I found it” by giving out flower crowns (straight from Hupperdook!) but oh boy I did not think this through and it made for some of my favorite awkward pictures. (Plus a cute one of Jester!) So happy to see everyone at the TAZ/Critical Role meetup today!
one thing that i love about cr is how when they have guests new to the game whoever sits next to them will help them out a lot, without just telling them how to do (a difficult boundary to navigate)
in particular i noticed that in the last episode that marisha was subtly encouraging sumalee to make a nature check, by asking in character if nila knew anything about the plants they were looking at. i think for new players it’s often very difficult to remember when and how to use checks, and reminding sumalee through roleplay was a really good way of allowing her to use her skills as a druid. it’s a neat trick i’ll have to remember in the future.

Suddenly this campaign has turned into a pack of wild lesbians following a dirty hobo wizard on a revenge quest while the audience plays where’s Waldo with our goth dads new character.
