i watched playthroughs of undertale back in the day but actually playing it now im just…hit really hard by how fucking bizarre it is that the fandom characterized sans as some sex god like…. hes just goofy and depressed

the disconnect between erotic and stoic fanon sans, and the canon sans who stacks dozens of hotdogs on your head.. incredible

Weak Trope: Having a character’s driving motivation be REVENGE up until the last second when they pull the “revenge won’t bring my wife/sister/town/three-eared dog back” and leave the bastard they’ve been hunting down alive.

Strong Trope: Hello! My Name! Is Inigo Montoya! You Killed My Father! Prepare! TO! DIE! *corners count rugen* Beg for your life *slashes cheek* Offer me anything I want in the world!  *slashes other cheek* I WANT MY FATHER BACK, YOU SON OF A BITCH. *stabs count rugen to death*

Hey guys. I wanna thank you all for enjoying my little text post. It means a lot to me that something so silly resonated with so many of you.

But it’s November 16th, 2018, about 10 pm, and I just learned that William Goldman has died. Goldman was the author of The Princess Bride, which I’m paraphrasing in the Strong Trope up there. He wrote the book and the screenplay to what is one of the most amazing films ever, and one of the most hilarious, loving parodies/pastiches of historical fantasies.

If you’ve never seen The Princess Bride, I highly recommend it. Show it to your whole family. Show your pets. Revel in the swordfights, giants, monsters, games of wit, death, and true love. Join the rest of us in incessantly quoting one of the most quotable movies ever. The book is a little different from the movie, but the core themes and charm are the same.

Thank you, William Goldman, for creating such a lasting, charming legacy with The Princess Bride, an incredible, wholesome story that transcends generations. Rest in peace.

I loved both the book and the movie growing up, they were my introduction (hand in hand with Monty Python & the Holy Grail, of course) to satire, sarcasm, irony, the biting British wit, and political commentary through comedy and storytelling.

If you haven’t read the book but watched the movie, do yourself a favor and do so (and vice versa). If you’ve done neither, do yourself an even bigger favor and do both.

Also, @we-are-avenger

If I have any Rise of the Guardians fans still following me — William Joyce is reaching out to the fandom to take a picture with the newest book in his series. He wants to show the world that we still have heart and interest in his work, and I know from what I’ve seen we do.

As specifically stated, the purpose is to also show film companies that there is still an audience for RotG.

If you wanted another chance to show your appreciation, the time is now. Of course, if you need some incentive— there is a print involved for those who participate!

Although this is geared at cosplayers I know I myself still might try to do something (draw a picture with the book like he did) or another to show support — so please don’t feel automatically discouraged at the word “cosplay”. In the comments, he has assured people the goal is utilizing those tags to generate interest again.

Have fun, use the tags, and spread love
