Former Telltale Dev: Patreon Advice Needed

kmudle:

Hello! Kent Mudle here, former Walking Dead Director recently laid off (along with the rest of the studio)

In my spare time I draw a comic called BERET which you can read here!

Check out “BERET” on Tapas https://tapas.io/series/BERET/

It’s a shonen battle comic with a gay male protagonist about a world where being an artist makes you basically a wizard!

I updated at a slow pace due to my full time job. Now that I don’t have that, I’m considering working on it way more. To help with the joblessness, I’m starting a Patreon to support work on the comic.

HERE’S A LINK TO THE PATREON! It’s not totally ready yet, but it’s getting started.

If supporting me interests you, or if you’d just like to give me some advice, I’ve got a lot of questions about how to make the Patreon worthwhile for my fans. Here they are!

– How often should I charge?

I can commit to updating either in 2 large chunks (5-6 pages) per month, or like 2-3 pages per week. What frequency is best to get support? Do people like monthly payments regardless of page count or do they prefer by update?

– What rewards would fans enjoy?

Sketch Requests? Rough page previews? Commentary on old chapters? Detailed battle mechanic guides? Twitch Streams where I work on the comic and chat with fans?

– Any advice regarding the financial side of Patreon?

Anyone with experience dealing with Patreon, it would be great to know if there’s anything I should be aware or wary of when setting up the whole venture.

Thanks if you can offer any response, or suggest anything I may have forgotten that you might like to see out of a BERET Patreon.
