you dont have to love your own art, you dont even have to like it! but when you say bad things about it all the time, about how its crap or you hate it or “this, this, and this is wrong with it,” youre tainting your audience’s view of your work

im still insecure about my art! every artist is, to some degree. to combat it, i used to immediately point out all the flaws i noticed in a piece so that no one else could do it. i thought it would keep people from bullying me if i preemptively bullied myself. and it didnt work. it did the exact opposite! talking shit about myself only encouraged other people to follow suit, and only did it stop when i stopped broadcasting my insecurities like that

once again, no one is 100 percent happy with their art, and everyone suffers from insecurity in their work, but in order to market your art online, you have to treat it like a business. if your business is putting out a product that even you say sucks, people will take your word for it.
